A Bugatti Veyron is...

A Bugatti Veyron is built in only six weeks – but it’s taking MG owner Nanjing Automotive Corporation (NAC) more than a year to produce the TF two-seater roadster.

Assembly is due to restart at MG Rover’s former Longbridge home in August – more than a year after it stalled due to quality issues. But Auto Express has learned that NAC is still battling with tooling problems, which could delay a relaunch even further.

Aware of Chinese firms’ reputation for poor build quality, a spokesman for NAC said: “We want to begin production of cars at Longbridge as soon as possible, but our priority is the quality of the product.” No on-sale date has been given, but the TF is expected to reach showrooms before the end of the year.
