Itò€™s a clash of the titans! These are world exclusive pictures of VWò€™s new Golf GTI ò€“ and already itò€™s facing its toughest challenge yet: going toe-to-toe with the legendary MkI GTI.
According to the study...
According to the study, performed by warranty provider, Warranty Direct, 125 garages knowingly questioned by the warranty company, 33 percent were willing to charge more than the suggested official repair times.
Disturbingly, the rate of exaggeration doubled to nearly 70 percent when the garages were spoken to by researchers posing as members of the public. One garage quoted 16 hours for a 6-hour job (a gearbox fault), which at labour rates that can be as high as ÷£150 per hour at main dealers is a severe pain in the wallet.
On average, the research found a 40 percent discrepancy between the garages quotes and the suggested manufacturer repair time.
The Warranty Direct research follows on the back of recent criticism of the industry"s slow up-take of the British Standards Institute "good standards" kite mark scheme. Of the UK"s 25,000 garages, incredibly only 3 had been accredited in the five months after its launch.
