The most radical will be a crossover vehicle, combining estate car and SUV styling with people carrier practicality. We"ve learned that it will be along the lines of the Freestyle, a new model for the US, which made its debut at this month"s Detroit Motor Show.

The official picture shows that the SUV will be a soft-roader, and easily identifiable thanks to those large wheelarches and increased ground clearance. The move into America - a country renowned for its love of large vehicles - is a brave one for Smart, and the firm will be hoping the ForMore makes a bigger impact than the ForTwo, which debuted at the recent Detroit Motor Show. As we revealed last week, there was only one car, sited on its own at the side of the Mercedes stand.
