Fleet cars sold at auction achieved higher prices last year than they did in 2005. According to figures from British Car Auctions, average values for three-year-old ex-fleet models were more than ?350 higher to the end of November compared to 2005. That trend is likely to continue as traders replenish forecourts during the busy period after New Year.

There"s now even more kit on offer with Toyotaò€™s Yaris (above). The range-topping SR has been upgraded to include a combined sat-nav and audio system as standard. The touchscreen device is built in, but can be removed ò€“ so is fully portable ò€“ and includes hands-free Bluetooth connectivity and an MP3 player connection.

Chevrolet’s cheap...

Chevrolet’s cheap and cheerful family hatch is becoming even more affordable. In Issue 1,000, Auto Express drove the revised five-door Aveo, which starts at ÷£7,500. But now, the US firm has announced a three-door (above), expected to cost ÷£200 less.

The newcomer will debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show, and features a sporty rear spoiler. It’s powered by a 1.2-litre 83bhp petrol engine, which emits 132g/km of CO2. The three-door goes on sale this summer, shortly after the five-door’s May launch.
