Despite denying rumours...

Despite denying rumours that he is looking to join another team, Jenson Button has admitted he could quit F1 if his Honda outfit continues to struggle. To date, the beleaguered marque’s latest RA107 has earned only one point in nine races.

“There will come a time when I get bored of finishing eighth,” admitted the 27-year-old, who seemed to be on the verge of a serious title bid after winning his first grand prix 11 months ago. “I’m in this sport to win, and if this continues then maybe in a couple of years I’ll just call it a day and go and find something else to do.”

In an effort to take Button back to the top, Honda has turned up the heat on its recruitment drive. The latest addition is Jörg Zander, who rejoins the team as deputy technical director after a brief spell at BMW-Sauber.

The Japanese outfit has also managed to tempt top aerodynamicist Loic Bigois away from the Williams camp. Honda tech chief Shuhei Nakamoto said: “We have some very talented people, but this is a rapidly changing sport and we need to evolve in order to keep pace.”
