Honda has announced...

Honda has announced a shift in it"s CR-V towards automatic diesels and a new, redesigned look.

The updated SUV is seen with a revised front bumper, grille and bonnet whilst at the rear there is a new bumper. Meanwhile, a new interior features upgraded build materials and a new centre console for a more upmarket feel.

Under the bonnet the 2.2-litre i-DTEC diesel engine, which gave 50.4mpg in the Accord, will become a powertrain option on the new CR-V. Producing 150hp and 350Nm of torque this diesel engine can be mated to a manual gearbox or, for the first time in a Honda, a five-speed automatic transmission.

Making a reappearance on the new model is the Adaptive Cruise Control system which can maintain a set distance to the vehicle in front and the Collision Mitigation Braking System which is able to detect hazards and warn the driver before applying the brakes.

The car will be officially unveiled at next week"s Frankfurt Motor Show when further details and information on pricing will be released.
