It has released this official sketch to reveal how the new model, due here in 2009, will look. As you can see, the newcomer will evolve SEAT"s current design themes, with a sleek nose, extended wheelarches, chunky shoulders and small glass areas.

It"s set to replace the poor-selling MPV-derived Toledo, and the saloon in the drawing will be joined by a practical estate version. A name has yet to be confirmed, but the Bolero badge used for SEAT"s 1998 sports saloon concept is thought likely.

Under the skin, the platform will be shared with sister brand Volks-wagen"s Passat, which means it will be front-wheel drive and provide plenty of space inside. Engines will come from VW as well, in the form of the TSI turbocharged and supercharged units, along with TDI diesels. The car will cost in the region of ÷£15,000. Both saloon and estate models will be manufactured locally at the marque"s Martorell plant in Spain, and the wraps are expected to be taken off a production version of the newcomer at one of next year"s major motor shows.
