New laws to make parking...

New laws to make parking enforcement fairer are on the way. The Department for Transport has rubber-stamped rules to force local authorities to scrap fines for motorists with mitigating circumstances.

The law, to be introduced in March, will also include lower penalties for less serious offences and insistence that endorsements are used to boost road safety and cut congestion, not make money.

MORE ALTERNATIVE-fuel models have been added to Volvo’s range. Two new, larger-capacity bioethanol engines are now available in the V70 estate and S80 saloon. Joining the 1.8-litre unit on offer in the C30, S40 and V50, the 143bhp 2.0-litre and 197bhp 2.5 motors give Volvo the broadest E85 bioethanol range in the UK.
