Although Toyota has been away from the performance coupé market for a long time, that will all change later this year when a new hybrid model arrives. The three-door Alfa hatchback will share its underpinnings with Fiat"s Grande Punto. And engineers are currently testing a prototype fitted with a 197bhp petrol engine and limited-slip differential, which could form the basis of a hot GTA variant. Owners of any of the brand"s models can now give their car an exclusive new look with a unique name badge.

Made by Dutch company NameYourPorsche, the lettering replaces the existing Carrera, Cayman or Cayenne badge with a name of the customer"s choice - whether it be their own, a partner"s or even one they"ve given to the car.

But buyers don"t have to be limited to names. A little imagin÷ation could see the boot emblazoned with "Back Off", "Follow Me" or, in the case of the 911, "Luggage Other End" across it.

The finished article doesn"t come cheap, but that"s because it"s hand-cut from aluminium, uses the original Porsche font and is available in black, grey, chrome or gold. Prices start at 375 Euros (÷£255) for five letters, and rise by 75 Euros (÷£50) per letter after that. Visit www.nameyourporsche.com for details.
