The third row of seats...

The third row of seats will fold into the load bay, as with the current model, and the second row will also disappear into the floor too, giving van-like carrying capabilities. Each of the rear seats will be an individual unit, meaning they can be removed or folded away as necessary. On top of that, the middle row of seats will be identical in concept to the Flexspace arrangement in the Meriva, so if only two chairs are being used, they can be moved forward, backwards and side to side.

Powered by a 645bhp Wankel rotary engine, the Skycar uses four fans to lift it into the air, which can then propel the two-seater to speeds of up to 380mph. The range is said to be 900 miles, and it can cruise at altitudes of up to 29,000 feet.

The firm is taking orders for the vehicle, but warns that potential customers will need to place a í‚á£60,000 deposit to secure a spot on the waiting list, which already has 100 names on it. Vehicles should be delivered in 2008, priced around í‚á£350,000.
