Set to arrive next spring...
Set to arrive next spring, the newcomer, spied in Issue 915, replaces the current CL and is based on the same chassis as the revised S-Class. It’s slightly larger than its predecessor, at 5,065mm long and 1,871mm wide, and has a 490-litre boot – 40 more than before.
The car is aimed at rivals such as the Bentley Continental GT and Aston Martin DB9. Two models will be available: the 5.5-litre V8 CL500 and the 5.5 V12 CL600.
Capable of hitting 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds, the CL600’s top speed is electronically limited to 155mph. The CL500 sprints to 60mph in 5.4 seconds. Both cars will get active body control, cornering lights and auto climate control as standard. Prices have still to be decided, but are likely to start from ÷£75,000.
