Thanks to the MP3 revolution, many motor÷ists are now used to listening to whatever music they fancy, wherever and whenever they want. But what about portable speakers which can be fitted in the car?
The new Velocity 2Go from Blaupunkt claims to be a full-range hi-fi speaker and subwoofer system in one – and is the first system of its kind on the market.
Compatible not only with MP3 players, but also portable DVD systems, mobile phones and even sat-navs, the rechargeable Velocity 2Go can be hooked up to your car stereo, or used at home as a standalone stereo. Once it has been docked in your cabin using either the securing straps or Blaupunkt’s optional QuickOut mounting kit, it will automatically turn into subwoofer mode and boost your car’s audio system with an extra kick. The die-cast aluminium casing is lightweight, and the set-up comes with a handy zip bag, which protects it from the elements.
The 160 watt maximum power is claimed to give superb sound quality. Two variants are available – 2Go 5 and 2Go 6 – with the latter being 4dB louder than its stablemate.
