The Cobra strikes again!...

The Cobra strikes again! Meet the Venom V8 ò€“ a stunning spiritual successor to the Shelby Cobra from the Sixties.

The muscular shape is based heavily on the original, but with a modern twist. Bulging wheelarches reveal 17-inch five-spoke alloys featuring propeller-style hubs ò€“ just like those on the original Shelbyò€™s wire rims.

And the front end is just as dramatic. Triangular headlights housing LED ò€˜eyesò€™ and a pair of fangs in the gaping grille give a reptile-like face to match the name. Twin stripes down the centre of the car are a

nod to the Cobraò€™s racing heritage, too.

At the rear, a futuristic rectangular LED forms the tail-light cluster, below which sits a stacked twin exhaust and a diffuser to provide downforce. Our picture shows the newcomer as a hard-top; it is unclear at this stage whether it will be offered as a roadster as well.

Backing up the aggressive looks is a 4.6-litre supercharged Ford V8 producing around 524bhp. As the body is constructed of lightweight aluminium and carbon fibre, this should propel the car from 0-60mph in 3.4 seconds and on to a 214mph top speed.

Styled by budding designer Jamie Martin, the Venom is at the computer concept stage, so fingers crossed it will make production.
