The FIA has confirmed that the Formula One Championship will stage a night race for the first time in its history next season (2008).

On September 28 Singapore’s streets will come alive after dark to the sound of Grand Prix engines, while the equally spectacular Marina Bay will serve as a beautiful backdrop.

It has been also confirmed the Canadian Grand Prix will be part of an extended 18-race 2008 calendar that includes a new street race in Valencia, Spain. The British round will again go ahead at Silverstone on July 6 - its traditional summer slot.

Meanwhile, the World Motor Sport Council has also decided that there will be a total freeze on engine development for a period of 10 years starting from 2008. A change could be made after five years but only if a unanimous agreement of all the tean owners and manufacturers is received.
