The HVS is the same size as Mazda"s MX-5, and uses a new 1.5-litre engine - made possible by the end of an agreement with parent firm Toyota which limited Daihatsu to using units with capacities no bigger than 1.3 litres. It"s mated to three electric motors, and the maker claims 2.0-litre performance with 1.0-litre economy and 70mpg as a result.

The Kia cee"d is putting on a brave new face! An updated version of the Korean firm"s best-selling hatch will break cover at next month"s Frankfurt Motor Show.
On the outside the cee"d has grown by 25 millimetres in length and gained the new Kia signature grille. The interior benefits from a revised steering wheel, red instrument illumination, a new centre console and updated stereos.
A new ECO-dynamics version will be launched for the first time in the UK, too. Featuring stop-start technology and other fuel-saving measures, CO2 emissions on this economy-focused model will be as low as 110g/km.
