The Motorpoint outlet...

The Motorpoint outlet in Peterborough, Cambs, is to grow to cope with unexpectedly high demand. The firm only acquired the site two months ago, but is already selling 700 cars per week, with customers being lured from as far away as Kent to get the best deal. Meanwhile Car Shop Mega-store – which has outlets in Manchester, Northampton and Cardiff – is set to open what it claims will be the country’s largest indoor showroom in Swindon, Wiltshire.

However, it’s not all good news for used car bargain hunters because the Carshock chain, which had seven showrooms in the north of England, has collapsed. Still, customers in the region can take heart from the fact that the Newcastle-based Henson Motor Group is planning to open two new sites, in North Tyneside and Teesside.
