Hand gestures may soon...

Hand gestures may soon replace buttons and switches in cars. Scientists at Friedrich-Alexander University in Germany have invented software so motorists won"t have to touch any controls at all. A dashboard unit tracks the driver"s hands, so a gesture is all that"s needed to change the air-con or switch on the radio.

Ford is building a gadget...

The shooting brake will...

The shooting brake will be revealed at this yearò€™s Paris Motor Show with a nose inspired by the new E-Class ò€“ confirming the look of the saloon first seen in our spy shots in Issue 1,026. The Volvo S60, only...

The Volvo S60, only previously seen in concept form has been snapped (but only just) on a road in England.

The heavily disguised prototype doesnò€™t give away much about the car but it is expected to look like a slightly toned down version of the S60 Concept that debuted at the Detroit Motor Show.

Onboard technology will include Volvoò€™s Collision Warning With Full Auto Brake. Several cameras will sense if the car is about to have a collision and will then take evasive action. The S60 also comes with a pedestrian detection system that can sense and avoid pedestrians.

Expect power to come from a fuel-efficient 1.6-litre turbo mated to a dual-clutch transmission. More details will be confirmed as the S60 approaches its expected release date in 2010.
