The current Focus is...

The current Focus is still a force to be reckoned with in terms of driver appeal, but its cabin has begun to look dated, especially when compared to cutting-edge competition such as the Vauxhall Astra and Volkswagen Golf. Ford"s designers have risen to the challenge and created an interior that is luxurious, ergonomic and very well trimmed. Taking its styling inspiration from the cabin of the C-MAX mini-MPV - itself based on the chassis of the next-generation Focus - the blue oval"s family favourite will also get enough hi-tech wizardry to please even the most dedicated gadget fan.

The stylish centre console features a large colour screen, which will combine controls for the air-conditioning, sat-nav and in-car entertainment system, and many of these features will be selectable with steering wheel-mounted buttons, too. Another of the new Focus"s distinctive interior features will be the oval air vents, which carry over the familiar shape used on the current model"s ventilation system.

Details of the Focus line-up are yet to be finalised, but standard kit is expected to be similar to that of the C-MAX, with even entry-level models being generously equipped. The all-new Focus will be officially unveiled at September"s Paris Motor Show, while UK sales are expected to start in January.
