Honda is thinking big...

Honda is thinking big with its "New Small Concept" unveiled at the Delhi Motor Show in India today. Designed by Honda Siel Cars India Ltd, the Japanese firm"s Indian arm, the stylish concept will form the basis for a new model to go on sale in India and Thailand next year.

The system, invented...

The system, invented by scientists at Cambridge University, is better than sat-nav in urban areas. That"s because it doesn"t need a clear view of the skies to see the GPS satellites that orbit the Earth. Likewise, it can also work in tunnels and under bridges, one of current sat-nav"s biggest failings. But scientists admit they"ve yet to crack the problem of getting good snaps of the surroundings when there"s thick fog. Ironically that"s when motorists need most help.

It"s only October, but Saab has already smashed its previous best annual sales record! More than 20,500 cars have found homes in the UK in 2005 - that"s 200 more than the firm sold in the whole of last year. Total figures are now expected to exceed 27,000, which will make Saab the UK"s fastest-growing premium brand.

The mag"s exclusive...

The mag"s exclusive pictures reveal that bosses have decided only the lightest of facelifts is necessary to keep the flagship 7-Series competitive.

After three years of criticism, BMW Group board member Professor Burkhard Gíƒá¶schel stands by the car"s look, but admitted: "Perhaps it would have been wise not to spread the new design language over a volume model (the 7-Series), but to prepare the market with one or two niche vehicles first."

The quote gives a rare insight into the firm"s thinking, and it"s clear that while bosses back design chief Chris Bangle"s work, there are some regrets over the way BMW"s current corporate style has been rolled out. The facelifted car will be unveiled in the metal at March"s Geneva Motor Show. Designers have been subtle in revising the 7"s lines. At the front, the aggression has been taken out of the saloon"s nose with sleeker headlamps, a restyled bumper and a more shapely grille. At the rear, the lights have been tidied up, with a new chrome strip across the boot. Inside, a similarly restrained make- over is likely, although the iDrive cabin control system could be simplified. UK models should appear next summer.
