The London event"s organisers have asked 40 of the biggest names in motoring - including DaimlerChrysler"s Dieter Zetsche, GM boss Rick Wagoner and Ford chief Bill Ford - to attend a glitzy drinks reception at 10 Downing Street with PM Tony Blair. Autotuning

The unit, our the Best...

The unit, our the Best Buy in our issue 871 test, has received a number of updates, including improved crocodile clips.

These are now enc?losed in a plastic casing, which should make them even stronger and also reduce the risk of an accidental short circuit.

The fully automatic unit is suitable for reviving standard 12-volt lead-acid cells up to 120Ah. Charging starts at the push of a button, and once the battery is topped up, the device switches to conditioning mode, which supplies a constant low current to ensure the powerpack remains in peak condition. What’s more, the charger can be left connected for months in this mode, making it particularly suited for those vehicles which are only used occasionally.

A protective storage bag is also included to protect the charger from dirt and grease when not in use. The price is the same as its predecessor’s, while the standard manufacturer’s guarantee has been extended from three to five years, and CTEK will replace the unit in the first year if it is damaged.
