ItтЂ™s the most expensive car ever to sell at auction. This black 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa has just been bought at the famous Leggenda e Passione auction in Maranello by an unknown bidder. Selling for a record т‚¬9.02 million, the historic Ferrari broke the previous record by т‚¬1.98, a mark set at the same event last year.

It"s believed that production of both roadster and coupé versions of the sports car is about to be halted. The two-seater is built for Chrysler by Karmann, which has a deal to make 30,000 annually. However, with sales on a downward spiral last year, Chrysler doesn"t need that many in 2006, and is in "production and associated compensation" discussions with the German firm.
