This new city car should...

This new city car should create a buzz among Citroen fans. Itò€™s a new electric version of the C1.

Badged the C1 evò€™ie, the newcomer is actually a battery-powered conversion ò€“ and the UKò€™s first all-electric four-seater, according to the French firm and project partner, the Electric Car Corporation (ECC).

On sale now, the C1 evò€™ie has a 70-mile range and can be fully charged in six to seven hours from a domestic 13-amp socket for only 90p. But at Ò£16,850, the C1 evò€™ie is Ò£9,000 more than the cheapest C1.

The evò€™ie is the first of whatò€™s likely to be numerous aftermarket EV conversions following the Governmentò€™s pledge to offer motorists electric car grants of up to Ò£5,000 from 2011.
