I am really sad because the race was important, but not as important as life,” he said. Vauxhall"s dramatic commercial for the Astra TwinTop features the new coupé-cabrio surfing through huge waves, before driving on to a sandy beach in front of stunned sunbathers.

But how was it made? With a lot of computer trickery. Filmed in South Africa, the waves and surfers are all real, with the car added digitally by the team behind the last Harry Potter film. The advert will be screened throughout the summer.
