Spanish squad SEAT took a clean sweep of World Touring Car Championship victories in Italy last weekend. Ex-BTCC champ Yvan Muller claimed the win in race one at Monza, extending his title lead. Team- mate Gabriele Tarquini won heat two, although he cut one of the chicanes, giving him a grid penalty of five places at the next race at Okayama, Japan, on 24 October.
While Audi has cancelled...
While Audi has cancelled plans to build a diesel R8, the good news is itò€™s definitely going ahead with a drop-top Spyder model.
Tipped to reach dealers as early as 2011, the car will feature a full-length soft-top ò€“ maintaining Audiò€™s preference for lightweight fabric roofs over folding metal hoods.
Both V8 and V10 editions of the Spyder will be available, and all benefit from a full-length glass engine cover. To make the V formation stand out even more, itò€™s thought an optional lighting kit will be offered ò€“ allowing owners to illuminate the engine bay at the flick of a switch.
Audi has earmarked this yearò€™s Frankfurt Motor Show for the modelò€™s debut, but is remaining tight-lipped on prices. According to our source, the newcomer will carry a healthy price premium over the coupé, with entry-level V8s costing as much as Ò£90,000.
